Call Schedules

Residents gain invaluable experience, confidence, speed, and independence as they progress through the tiered call system. The on-call experience is designed to fully prepare residents for all aspects of radiology, including both the private practice and academic settings. Residents repeatedly say that their on-call experience is one of the most useful learning experiences of residency.

Shifts

Diagnostic Evening Call

R1-2

Time: 4 pm – 9 pm Monday – Friday (excluding holidays).

Description: All ER and urgent care radiographs, as well as all inpatient and ER fluoroscopy studies and ultrasounds performed during this shift.

Weekend Level 2 Call

R2-3

Time: 8 am – 9 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Description: All inpatient and ER body adult and pediatric CTs and MRIs, as well as all nuclear medicine studies performed during this shift.

Weekend Level 3 VIR/INR Call

R2-4

Time: Friday 4 pm – Monday 7 am home call.

Description: Take requests for cases and triage, coordinate the scheduling of case with the IR/Angio/Neuro IR team, and perform the cases.

Body Evening Call

R2-3

Time: 4 pm – 9 pm Monday – Friday (excluding holidays).

Description: All inpatient and ER body adult and pediatric CTs and MRIs, as well as all nuclear medicine studies performed during this shift.

Body PM

R2-3

Time: 3 pm – 12 am Monday – Friday (excluding holidays).

Description: Inpatient and ER body adult and pediatric CTs, MRIs, radiographs, fluoroscopy, and ultrasounds performed during this shift.

Neuro PM

R2-3

Time: 1 pm – 9 pm Monday – Friday (excluding holidays).

Description: Neuro MRIs and CTs, including head, neck, maxillofacial, temporal bone, orbits, and spine.

Emergency Night Shift Call

R2-4

Time: 9 pm – 8 am.

Description: All modalities of adult and pediatric inpatient and ED studies.

Neuro Weekend Call

R2-4

Time: 8 am – 9 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Description: Neuro MRIs and CTs, including head, neck, maxillofacial, temporal bone, orbits, and spine.

Noon Call

R4

Time: 12pm – 1pm Monday – Friday (excluding holidays).

Description: STAT modalities of adult and pediatric ED and urgent care studies.
